Besakih Temple is a temple complex at the center of religious activity for Hindus in Bali. The temple located in Besakih Village, Rendang sub district, Karangasem regency, Bali province, Indonesia. Pura Besakih is often called by the name of Pura Agung Besakih, This temple was already well known by foreign countries, it can be seen from the number of foreign or domestic travelers who traveled to this place.

Besakih Temple was built by a Hindu religious leaders from India who have long settled in the island of Java, namely Resi Markandeya. This temple consists of several temples in the center of which is the first temple ( Pura Penataran Agung Besakih ) and 18 Pura Assistances ( 1 Pura Basukian and 17 Others temples ). Penataran Agung Besakih temple is the biggest one in the temple region. Penataran Agung Besakih have a place or a building for worship which is called by the name Pelinggih and is the center of  Besakih temple. Besakih Temple is the biggest temple in Bali in Indonesia because of there are many other temples in the surrounding buildings. Besakih Temple is also called as a mother of all temples in Bali.

You will be able to enjoy the beauty of this temple immediately if you come to this temple, you can see the unique polynomial stair gate and there is a very large, this is the entrance gate to the central area of Pura Penataran Agung Besakih. In upgrading the great temple statues or temples, there are 3 main symbol of the nature of God stana ” Trimurti “, namely Lord Brahma (God of creation), Lord Vishnu (God of the Preserver) and Lord Shiva (The god of fuser / Reincarnation). The physical background presence buildings Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung is a place of worship to the mountain god conceived as supreme Deity palace.
